A new filmpoem

Jonathan Edwards. who won the Costa Poetry Prize for his collection My Family and Other Superheroes is working on a new canal-themed filmpoem with filmmaker Colin Morris, due for its premier in Autumn 2018. We are currently negotiating drone hire, to get those those brilliant birds’ eye view shots we need for his film. Here’s an extract from Jonathan’s sequence of canal poems –

So walk out of your day and you’ll be there.
When I was young, when I was mostly limb,
I’d gaze across the water at the woody
other side look and put goblins there.
It’s not so different now. The boy who’s skimming
stones across the morning with his coat on
isn’t me now look, which makes him boring.
So reader, me and you, let’s wink and do this:
let’s creep behind him now. Let’s send him splashing.
